Description

This delicious and hearty Baked Turkey Bacon Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese combines seasoned ground turkey, crispy bacon, creamy cheese sauce, and tender pasta. It’s a family-friendly meal perfect for weeknights or casual gatherings!

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni (or your favorite pasta)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional, for added flavor)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickles (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the pasta: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Brown the turkey: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Cook the ground turkey until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir in the crumbled turkey bacon and set aside.

3️⃣ Make the cheese sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 1-2 minutes to make a roux. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the sauce is smooth and starts to thicken.

4️⃣ Add cheese and flavorings: Lower the heat and add the cheddar cheese, mozzarella, and Dijon mustard if using, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5️⃣ Combine pasta, turkey, and sauce: In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, browned turkey and bacon, and the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

6️⃣ Assemble and bake: Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle extra shredded cheddar on top for a golden, bubbly crust.

7️⃣ Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

8️⃣ Garnish and serve: Optionally, garnish with chopped pickles and fresh parsley for a cheeseburger-inspired finish. Serve warm and enjoy!
