  • Author: Christophe
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Description

This deliciously creamy cheese tortellini is an easy and indulgent pasta dish featuring tender tortellini coated in a rich garlic and cheese sauce with a hint of nutmeg. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner that feels like a restaurant treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cheese tortellini
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the tortellini: Prepare the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Sauté the garlic: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to let it brown.

3️⃣ Make the sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Gradually stir in the Parmesan and Romano cheeses until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

4️⃣ Season the sauce: Add the ground nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting as desired.

5️⃣ Combine tortellini and sauce: Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet, gently tossing until each piece is coated with the creamy cheese sauce.

6️⃣ Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Nutmeg hint: A touch of nutmeg enhances the creaminess of the sauce without overpowering it. If you’re unsure, start with a smaller amount.
  • Cheese options: If you don’t have Romano, you can use more Parmesan, or try Pecorino for a sharper flavor.
  • Add-ins: For extra flavor, consider adding spinach or mushrooms. You can sauté them with the garlic before adding the cream.
