Crockpot Beef Tips and Noodles

  • Author: Christophe

Description

Crockpot Beef Tips and Noodles is a hearty and comforting dish that’s perfect for any occasion. This easy-to-make recipe features tender, slow-cooked beef tips simmered in a rich and savory sauce. Served over egg noodles, it’s a satisfying meal that requires minimal prep and lets the crockpot do all the work. Ideal for busy weeknights or cozy weekends, this dish is a family favorite thanks to its deep flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb stew meat (you can bump this up to 2 lbs for a meatier dish)
  • 1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix
  • 1 packet of brown gravy mix
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 small can of mushrooms (optional, but highly recommended for extra flavor!)
  • 1 can of beef broth (use the empty cream of mushroom soup can to measure)
  • Egg noodles (cooked separately according to the package directions)

Instructions

Prepare the CrockpotStart by gathering all your ingredients. In your crockpot, place the stew meat, Lipton onion soup mix, brown gravy mix, cream of mushroom soup, and mushrooms (if using them). Make sure everything is well mixed.

Add the Beef BrothNext, take the empty cream of mushroom soup can and fill it with beef broth. Pour the broth into the crockpot and stir everything together. This ensures the flavors meld perfectly as they cook.

Slow Cook to PerfectionCover the crockpot and set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. The goal is to let the beef become so tender that it practically melts in your mouth. Plus, the gravy will thicken and develop a rich, deep flavor during the cooking process.

Cook the Egg NoodlesAbout 15 minutes before you’re ready to serve, cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Once they’re done, drain them and set them aside.

Serve and Enjoy: To serve, place a generous helping of noodles on each plate and top them with the succulent beef tips and plenty of that savory gravy. This meal is comfort food at its finest!

Notes

  • Choosing Beef Cuts:
For the best results, use beef tips, stew meat, or chuck roast. These cuts become incredibly tender when slow-cooked, making them perfect for this recipe. Sirloin tips are a leaner option, while chuck roast is more affordable and offers rich flavor.
  • Browning the Beef (Optional):
While browning the beef in a skillet before adding it to the crockpot is optional, it adds an extra layer of flavor and a firmer texture. However, if you’re short on time, you can skip this step, and the beef will still be tender.
  • Cooking Noodles:
You can cook the noodles directly in the crockpot during the last hour, or boil them separately. Cooking them separately ensures the perfect texture, while adding them to the crockpot allows them to absorb more flavor.
  • Thickening the Sauce:
For a richer, thicker sauce, use a cornstarch slurry or a flour-based roux. Add this during the last 30 minutes of cooking to achieve a velvety sauce that coats the beef and noodles.
  • Storage and Leftovers:
This dish can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat leftovers on the stove or in the microwave, adding a bit of broth or water if needed to loosen the sauce. It also freezes well for up to 3 months, making it a great make-ahead meal.
  • Customizations:
Feel free to add vegetables like mushrooms, onions, carrots, or peas to enhance the dish. For a creamy version, stir in sour cream or cream cheese at the end.
